At the end of July, typical Slovenian weather is warm and dry, ideal conditions for a longboarding event where competitors race downhill around a series of hairpin bends, with the added twist of not being allowed to control their slides with their hands, as is the longboarding norm.

However, the weather gods were not smiling on July 31 at 10am, with fog and dampness on the course in Osilnica as the Red Bull No Paws Down event got underway.

By the time 60 contestants had been whittled down to a final 32, the sun had begun to creep through the cloud and the track had dried out. A four-man final ended the epic event, where Ian Freire triumphed over Rob McWhinnie, Dominic Schenk and Tomas Rushovich to win the Red Bull No Paws Down title.
